Dash Network Tightens Masternodes Standards, Hundreds of Dash Nodes Go Offline

News by Altcoin Buzz: Ifeanyi

In order to combat the scalability issues faced by older blockchains and enhance its key performances, the Dash network has activated Distributed Key Generation (DKG). According to the team, this protocol enabled the creation of Long-Living Masternode Quorums (LLMQ).
According to the publication by the team, the LLQMs will be made to contribute to the running of the network and in the process enable mitigation against 51% attacks. This action works so that all attempts to secretly mine are unfoiled through the exposure of the miner’s chains.

Upon being online, the masternodes are given the responsibility of providing “consistent service benchmarks” to Dash’s network. The publication also stated that the masternodes will be assessed by their Proof-of-Service system with which scores are awarded to the nodes.

“[…] A number of metrics are involved in the calculation, so it is not possible to game the system by causing masterrnodes to be PoSe banned for failing to respond to ping requests by e.g. a DDoS attack just prior to payment.”

According to the team, the scoring system ensures which of the masternodes are working to improve the quality of the network and get paid. The documentation also explained that the masternodes noted to be doing less work will be banned from the network.

“Each failure to provide service results in an increase in the PoSe score relative to the maximum score, which is equal to the number of masternodes in the valid set. If the score reaches the number of masternodes in the valid set, a PoSe ban is enacted and the masternode must be repaired to ensure it provides reliable service.”

95% of Masternodes Remain Running, 200 Nodes drops out

Seemingly undeterred by the measures placed on their services, records have shown that over 4,700 nodes are still running while about 200 nodes were noted to have gone offline. This number indicates that the Dash network was performing at high levels and this has not changed.

Also, in line with the update in performances, the network’s mining rate was noted to have undergone an upgrade. According to reports, the hashrate was recorded to have achieved a height of about 3.688 petahashes indicating an all round robust performance.
